This article sets out to investigate how Malaysian newspapers discursively construct the identities for Chinese international students via such methods as the linguistic strategies and framing techniques and thus reveal how media narratives shape prevailing public perceptions of this demographic. To this end, the study utilizes critical discourse analysis (CDA) to analyze the newspaper articles appearing in leading Malaysian newspaper. The findings illustrate how these narratives either reinforce or challenge social hierarchies, cultural stereotypes, and national identity within Malaysian society, demonstrating that media representations of Chinese international students are never merely descriptive but are performative acts that actively shape the terms of social inclusion and cultural belonging.
